Central Heating SystemsA commonly used Central Heating option is run by the heating of air. Air systems are commonly run by using a series of ducts in each room to circulate and ventilate heat. Many central heating systems can be zone-controlled, so you can control the temperature of different parts of your house for greater flexibility and energy efficiency. Underfloor HeatingUnderfloor heating is a popular asset in many new, and existing homes and buildings. One of the benefits is that it "heats the people, rather than the air". It does this by radiating warmth through the floor, or heating the floor itself, so a person standing will feel warm, often regardless of room temperature. Underfloor heating suits businesses and homes who do not want bulky heating systems, and is also a great benefit in areas where there is a risk of danger from falling on, or touching hot appliances and heating systems. It distributes heat evenly, and will not stir up dust as it does not produce a draft. Also, the air itself is not heated so there is no moisture build-up or condensation left on windows. Some underfloor systems have warm water circulating through tubing embedded in concrete. Heat sources for the warm water can be electricity, gas, solar, wetbacks, diesel boilers or waste heat. Heat PumpsHeat Pumps are a very popular choice for heating requirements in both the home, and the office. One of the reasons for their immense popularity is how energy efficient they are! A conventional electric heater will deliver 1 kW of heating for every 1 kW of electricity used. However, some heat pumps can produce up to 5 kilowatts (kW) of heating for every 1 kW of electricity they use! Heat Pumps use a similar technology to your refrigerator, but simply in 'reverse' to heat your home, rather than cool it. The way they work, is they take heat from outside and transfer it inside by using a sophisticated compressor, fan and refridgerant gases to heat. Electric HeatingRadiant heaters Radiant heaters are a common choice for heating in the home, but aren't an effective option for large areas, or an office environment. Instead of spreading heat around a room, they tend to heat a small area. These heaters however, are a fire risk. If you were considering this to be an option for your business or office, contact us to find out more about the best solution for you! Fan heaters Fan heaters are effective in the home, and are suitable for 'quick warmth' they are often used in kitchens and bathrooms as they efficiently distribute heat around the room instead of letting it form a layer at ceiling height. This option is less energy efficient as energy is used to run the fan, instead of primarily producing heat. Convection heaters A convection heater warms the air instead of surfaces. Most models typically have an element and a fan. A perfect choice for a small-medium sized room, however they are less suited to larger rooms, offices and buildings. Night store heaters Night Store Heaters benefit power costs as they run off the cheaper off-peak power at night, and release the heat during the day. They are economical for an office, or home occupied during the day. |
