Outdoor Lighting
Do you have sufficient outdoor lighting? It is important that every property has working security lights, and porch lighting for your safety and enjoyment. Remember that it is getting darker earlier in the evenings now.

  • Is the lighting that you already have energy efficient and safe?
  • Is your outdoor lighting bright enough?
  • Remember that outdoor lighting is a deterrent to night time prowlers, and it helps keeps your family and property safe.

Indoor Lighting:
Choose clean, white lighting for your home in summer! LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting is becoming a popular way to light up homes and businesses all over the world. Although LED has been around for many years, it has only recently become available in white, which has seen it become a great lighting solution. Not only do LEDs consume 30-75% less energy and are four times more energy efficient than regular light bulbs, they look great too! Homeowners and business people alike are keen to convert to this eco friendly lighting solution to save themselves money, and do their bit towards saving our planet, too. Here at The Connection Company South Island, we’re the experts in LED lighting solutions and we’re keen to tell you all about it. Call us now on 03 960 2742 for an obligation-free assessment and quote.

  • Is your current lighting solution energy efficient for you?
  • Is your current lighting suitable for your vision? Avoid squinting and optometrist bills (or new glasses!) by making simple changes in your home and workplace.

HotWaterCylinder

Hot Water Cylinder: Hot water is an important luxury to us - a luxury that we also need. Ensure that you are getting the most from your cylinder by cheking that your ripple control is working. If your cylinder is small and it needs to cater for a family make sure you are on the best 'anytime rate' that you can access with your electricity supplier. For larger cylinders, make sure they are on night rate. Ensure that your cylinder is set at 60-70°C.

  • How much do you know about your hot water cylinder and how it runs? Could some simple tweaks save you time and money?
  • Have you had your cylinder checked after the earthquakes?

HeatPump
Heat Pump Servicing or Installation: Now is the time to get that Heat Pump installed  before it gets really cold!
If you already have one installed, think back to when you had it installed and when the last service was. If you are in Christchurch and it was more than six months ago we recommend contacting us to consult when you should be booking in.

Read our handy FAQ which we have put together to assist you in making the right choice.

  • Did you suffer from liquefaction and dust after our quakes in Christchurch? If so - your heat pump probably needs some major TLC to tune it back to optimum performance.
  • Also, does your air conditioning or heat pump meet current standards?
  • Is your form of heating and air conditioning energy efficient and safe?

SummerpgPowerSocket.jpg

Power Trip (Overloading):
We often see people using multiple double plugs or multi-boards to accommodate plugs for hair dryers, electric blankets, laptops and bedside lamps off one socket in their bedroom and it’s here that the power trip problem begins. Using one wall socket for a number of appliances can cause circuits to be overloaded and ‘trip’ – shutting down power to the whole circuit, not to mention
increasing the risk of a fire.

  • Please don't plug your laptop, heater, hair dryer, phone charger into one multi box - ouch! Contact us to find out your best option. Remember - this is a fire risk and your safety is very important to us.
  • Target and fix this by getting The Connection Company to install additional wall sockets for your needs. We can provide you with an easy, clean and accurate solution to meet your electrical and design needs.

CertOven
Overloading Power Sockets on Ranges: Do you have your jug, your toaster and your blender plugged into your range all of the time? If you, it is likely that you are overloading the power supply to your range.
If everything is plugged in and going at the same time, there is simply not enough power in the circuit to supply all appliances and the oven.

  • Consider installation of extra plug sockets in your kitchen,
  • Or - have a rearrange of your kitchen and see if these appliances would be suitable anywhere else without overloading a multibox. Are there surplus sockets hiding behind your microwave, or elsewhere?

Ensure that your Autumn season is safe and warm with The Connection Company.
